Jasper Jap Smith Jr., 57, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Tuesday, March 4th, 2008 at Shands at U. F. in Gainesville following a brief illness. He was the son of Jasper Sr. & Minnie (Dennard) Smith. He was a graduate of Central Academy High School, class of 68. He was a lifelong member of St. Marys Episcopal Church. For the past 2 years, Jasper was employed as a vehicle detailer at Ride Solutions. He was also a longtime employee of the former Central States Diversified and he previously worked at the Hastings Youth Academy and Hank Busler Chevrolet. Jasper was an avid mechanic who enjoyed working on and was a professional automobile detailer. Jasper was preceded in eternal rest by his beloved parents; brother, Ernest Lee Smith; brother, Richard David Smith (Feb. 16th, 2008) and a sister, Hazel Williams. To Cherish His Memories, Devoted Wife of 11 years, Angela Victoria Smith, Palatka; Daughters: Cotina Smith, Jackie (Adrian) Williams, Quiana Smith, Sade Smith, Jatarra Smith; Sons, Jasper Smith, III, Jermaine Smith, Step-daughters, LaQuanda Brinkley, Faith Belton, all of Palatka; Toni Brown, Jacksonville; Step-Son, Teddy Brinkley, Palatka; Brothers, Johnny Lee Smith, Palatka; Cleveland (Janice) Smith & Harvey (Vanessa) Shelley, both of Orlando; Albert (Willie Bell) Smith, Davenport FL., Ronald Pope, Palatka; Sisters, Georgia (Ernest) McRae, Cynthia (Thaddeus) Speed, Brenda Hill, all of Palatka; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and caring friends. Visitation of family & friends will be Friday, March 7th from 5-8pm at the Chapel of Serenity. Homegoing services will be Saturday, March 8th, 1:30 p.m. at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Ave., Palatka, Reverend Karl N. Flagg, Pastor, eulogist and Elder James Campbell Sr., Assistant Pastor of To God Be The Glory Holiness Church, presiding. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery, Palatka
