Obituary

Jasmine Satuba Brown Mays, 41, of Palatka (former resident of Crescent City), entered the sunset of life on Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at Putnam Community Medical Center, Palatka. A native of Gainesville, she was the daughter of Joseph Wade and Carolyn Ann Vance, born on Sunday, August 12, 1973. She was educated in the Putnam County School District and graduated through the Job Corps. Jasmine was a home healthcare nursing assistant employed with Comfort Keepers of Green Cove Springs. She was united in marriage to Michael Edward Mays. Jasmine's favorite hobbies included gardening, fishing, cooking, taking pictures, thrift store shopping and chilling with friends and family. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in eternal rest by her maternal grandmother, Georgia Lou Merchant; paternal grandmother, Sylvia Grayson; sister, Gloria Dean Grant; uncle, Calvin L. Vance. She leaves to cherish her memories: husband, Michael E. Mays, Palatka; son, Octavius Henry, Palatka; daughters, Kamry Kelly and KeYuna Rutledge, both of Palatka; father, Joseph Wade, Mandeville, LA; step-father, George M. Brown, Ft. Pierce; grandchildren, Charles A. McRae, Octavius Henry, Jr., Palatka; Orie'l T. Henry, Gainesville; siblings, Deborah (James) Lane, Tina (Dwight) Milton, George Brown, Jr., all of Crescent City; Angela (Elder Anthony) Hubbard, Phoenix City, AL; E-6 LaFrenchie (Josh) Harris, Denver, CO; Pastor Charles Phillips, Jr., and Patricia Wade, both of Mandeville, LA; god brother, Jovon Franklin, Crescent City; god-father, Charles Nelson, Crescent City; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving relatives and friends. Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m., Friday, April 24, at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Homegoing Celebration will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 25, at Johnson Temple Church of God in Christ, 1150 Huntington Road, Crescent City, Elder H. Harry Banks, Pastor. Elder Anthony Hubbard, Southern Apostolic Church, Phoenix City, AL, is the eulogist. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Crescent City.
