Obituary

Janice Williams, 49, native and lifelong resident of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Monday, December 18, 2017, at Putnam Community Medical Center. The daughter of Jimmie Lee and Nola (Perry) Williams, she was born on Wednesday, July 24, 1968. She was a 1987 graduate of Palatka High School. At an early age, Janice was baptized at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church and subsequently attended other churches in the community. Janice truly loved children, and absolutely adored her nieces and nephews. She was employed for many years as a childcare worker. She was a gardener and her hobbies included playing softball and volleyball. She was an avid Florida Gators football fan. Janice was true to herself, shared her smile with the world; her personality was beautiful, and her spirit all the same. Janice faced many challenges, but never complained; and now her angel wings she has gained.

In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in eternal rest by her brothers, Jimmie C. Williams and Larry Williams; sister, Hattie "Sugar Ma" Williams Jones.

She leaves to cherish her memories: sons, Tysir (Stephanie) McHellen and Kion Williams; daughter, Quantiana Wilson; grandson, Aiden McHellen; brother, John L (Sharon) Williams; sisters, Dorothy Esau, Cathy Lee, Ester Wright, Permelia (David) Green, Vernesia (Curley) Gilmore; sister-in-law, Sarah Williams, all of Palatka; aunts and uncles, Simuel (Mary) Williams, Sumter, SC; Robert James Williams, San Francisco, CA; Delores Purdy, Palatka; beloved and devoted niece, Keashia (Chavarro, Sr.) Thomas; god-sisters, Lalita (Timothy, Jr.) Thomas and Annette Hannah; goddaughters, Ebonee Crumpton and Takevis McCaskill, all of Palatka; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces, and great-great nephews (who loved her dearly); other relatives and caring friends; "just like daughters," Simone Mosley and Chloe Smith, Palatka; special cousin, Alma Jean Christmas, Cocoa; special devoted friend, Gail Cooper, Palatka.

Visitation of family and friends: 5-8 p.m., Friday, December 22nd at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Homegoing Celebration: 11 a.m., Saturday, December 23rd, at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Avenue, Palatka. Reverend Chris Lee, Associate Pastor, Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, is the eulogist. Interment: Oak Hill West Cemetery.
