James E. Tripp, 62, of Hastings, entered the sunset of life on Friday, December 21, 2012 at Flagler Hospital, St. Augustine following a brief illness. A native of Jasper, FL., he was born on Friday, June 2, 1950 to George and Hattie (Alexander) Tripp, Sr. At an early age his family relocated to Palatka where he attended Central Academy High School, class of 1968. James was a farm laborer who enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in eternal rest by his sister, Delores Tripp Pope; brother, Victor Tripp, Sr.; nephews, Victor Tripp, Jr., and Andre D. Tripp. Those who cherish his memories: sisters, Dorothy Tripp Evans, Mary Jane (Gerald) McCloud, Helen (Cephus) Mack, and Victoria Tripp, all of Palatka; brothers, George Tripp, Jr., Eddie Tripp Sr., Roy Tripp, Frankie Butler, Wallace (Quincy) Tripp; and Maurcus Butler, all of Palatka; Maurice (Antoinette) Butler, Bradenton; step-sisters and step-brother, Marian Christopher, Constancha (Freddie) Jenkins, and Spencer (Stacy) Christopher, Jr., all of Palatka; and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation of family and friends will be from 4 - 7 p.m. Friday, December 28, at Flagg-Serenity. Homegoing Celebration will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 29, at the "Chapel of Serenity" with Elder Willie Ross, pastor of Holy Temple of God Church, East Palatka, is the eulogist.
