James "Uncle Nate" Sanders, 93, of Interlachen, entered the sunset of life on Monday, August 5, 2013 at Putnam Community Medical Center. A native of Barberville, FL he was born on Tuesday, April 20, 1920 to James & Vera White Sanders. He was educated in the Putnam County School District and was formerly employed as an agricultural laborer and truck driver. In 1996, "Uncle Nate" relocated to Interlachen from Albion, New York. "Uncle Nate" loved animals and his hobbies included traveling and simply spending time with family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in eternal rest by his sisters, Estella Sanders Lewis, Evelyn Sanders Johnson and Gladys Sanders Robinson. To cherish his memories: nieces, Gloria Lewis, Vera Reaves, and Audrey Williams, all of Palatka; Leugeina Johnson, Jacksonville; Adrien Johnson, Albion, NY; nephews, Nathaniel Robinson, Fitzgerald, GA; cousin, Thelma Sheppard, Sanford; companion, Lois Manning, Interlachen; special great niece, Takisha Johnson, Jacksonville, and a host of grand nieces, great nieces and a sorrowing friends. Visitation of family and friends will be 12 noon - 3 pm Friday, August 9. Homegoing Celebration Life will held 3 p.m. Friday at Flagg's Chapel of Serenity, 2400 Madison Street, Palatka, Elder Samuel L. Harris, pastor of Refuge Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Palatka, is the eulogist.
