Obituary

James Pringle, 80, of Palatka, a lifelong resident of Putnam County, entered the sunset of life on Saturday, March 7, 2009, at Putnam Community Medical Center following a brief illness. A native of Bardin, he was the son of J.D. and Lady (Gainey) Pringle, born Saturday, August 11, 1928. He was educated in the Putnam County School District. James united in marriage to the former Alice Rebecca Alston on April 12, 1959 in St. Augustine. Over the years, James was a long distance truck driver, Central States employee, certified automotive service technician at Bainbridge Motors and service department employee at the Palatka Ford dealership. James was an auto expert and especially loved Corvettes (his dream car). He was a member of Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church. James enjoyed the simple things in life and enjoyed helping others in any way he could with a smile on his face. He was preceded in eternal rest by his father, J.D. Pringle; mother, Lady Pringle Williams; sisters, Mary Bradley & Louise Marshall; brothers, Hilton Fields & Charles Sonny Boy Fields. To cherish his memories: devoted wife of nearly 50 years, Alice Alston Pringle, Palatka; very devoted daughter & son: Ruth A. (Roosevelt) Burley, Miami; Keith A. Pringle, Oviedo; Sister, Willie Lee Cooter Nixon, Palatka; two Granddaughters, Kimberly A. Burley & Shannon B. Burley, both of Miami; Brother-in-law, Charles Alston, Bronx, NY; Sister-in-law, Alberta A. Hill, Fort Walton Beach, FL; a host of nieces, nephews, former co-workers, other relatives and dear friends. His prized Pomeranian, Cosmo Joe will also miss him. Visitation of family and friends will be Friday, March 13, from 5-8 p.m. at the Chapel of Serenity. Homegoing Celebration will be 2 p.m. Saturday, March 14, 2009 at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Avenue, Palatka, with viewing at the church two hours prior to the services. Reverend Karl N. Flagg, Pastor is the eulogist. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery. The cortege will assemble at the Pringles residence, 201 Cedar Street, Palatka at 1:20 p.m. Saturday.
