Obituary

Deacon James "Big James" Jordan, 60, of Crescent City, gained his heavenly wings on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 in Hardeeville, SC, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. A native of Allendale, SC, he was the son of John Jordan, Sr. and Hattie Lee (Wright) Jordan, born on Wednesday, October 15, 1958. He was educated in the Allendale County SC School System.

In July 2006, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and was filled with the gift of the Holy Ghost at Johnson Temple Church of God in Christ, Crescent City under the pastoral leadership of Elder H. Harry Banks. He faithfully served as a Deacon and member of the Evangelistic ministry and was also a fervent prayer warrior. He really loved the Lord and was not ashamed to praise and worship Him in spirit and in truth. He was also faithful to the Palatka District COGIC. Deacon Jordan was a self-employed landscaper for the past seven years. He was a very industrious worker who spent most of his time on the job.

"Big James," as he was affectionately known, really, really loved all of his grandchildren and godchildren. When he bought for one, he bought for all; when he gave to one, he gave to all. He truly enjoyed spending extra time with his grandson Amarion Wiggs, (his heart, when they were together, you couldn't pull them apart.) Deacon Jordan loved his family, church family, and friends.

Deacon Jordan's three favorite expressions, "If it's God's will," "If God be willing," and "What time is it?" If the people didn't respond loud enough, he would say, "You sound a little weak there," and then he would begin to laugh.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in eternal rest by his brothers, Jessie Jordan (twin brother), Willie Jordan, Derrick Youmans and John Youmans; sisters, Karen "Wee-Wee" Drain, Henrietta Williams; step-son, Jarvis Crocker; mother-in-law, Lillian Kennell; father-in-law, Lonnie Kennell, Sr.; brother-in-law, Alvin White; sister-in-law, Charlotte Williams; uncles, Bernard Wright, Sr., Oregen Wright, Leroy Wright, Deacon Marion Brantley, Sr.; aunts, Maudell Hicks, Evelynn Wright.

He leaves to cherish his memories: loving, devoted and faithful wife of 12 years, Evangelist-Missionary Harriett Jordan, Crescent City; daughter, Juanita (Joseph) Turner, Orange City; step-sons, Travis (Qiana) Crocker, Trenton, NJ; Elder Taurean (Jessica) Wilson, Sr., Palm Coast; step-daughter, Tyjuana Kennell, Sanford; 10 grandchildren, Alexis, Ciera, Al'Brianna, Amaya, Joseph, Taurean, Jr., Al'lonna, Brooklynn, Amarion, and Jayden; brothers, Johnny Jordan, Mickey Wright, both of Allendale, SC; sisters, Mary Jordan, Crescent City; Judy (Charles) Charlton, Barbara Jordan, Patricia Albany, Teresa Albany, and Shirley (Ronnie) Capers, all of Allendale, SC; a host of aunts and uncles, especially, Evangelist Annie Ruth Wright, Mary Alice Simmons, Bobby Wright, all of Allendale, SC; Tressie Lee Brantley, Crescent City; god-children, Kiace White, Shekinah Shiloh and Kennedy Grace Leonard, Rashea (Katrina) Grant, Fistroy (Pam) Henry, Jr., Javon (Linda) Henry; and a host of caring relatives and friends, including special friends, David and Margie Hinson, Pomona Park; Michael Monroe, Denver, CO.

Visitation of family and friends will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, December 28 at Johnson Temple Church of God in Christ, 1150 Huntington Road, Crescent City, Elder H. Harry Banks, Pastor. Homegoing Celebration will be 2 p.m., Saturday, December 29 at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, South Putnam Campus, 608 Randolph Street, Crescent City. Elder Taurean Wilson, Sr., is the eulogist.
