Dr. Jaime Motta, 84, of Interlachen, transitioned peacefully on Tuesday morning, November 4, 2014 at Crestwood Nursing Center in Palatka following an extended illness. A native of Bogota, Colombia, he was the son of Rafael & Lila (Montes) Motta, born on Thursday, July 3, 1930. He was a surgeon and OB-GYN in Colombia where he also served as Surgeon General. He subsequently opened an OB-GYN/family practice in Buenos Aires, Argentina prior to relocating to Miami, FL., where he opened his first U.S. practice in 1971. From Miami, he moved to Northeast Florida and established family practice offices in Crescent City, Interlachen, and Hawthorne. Dr. Motta held a medical license for 58 years spanning three countries, retiring in 1999. Dr. Motta spoke five different languages and he was the last Putnam County physician known that continued to make house calls for his beloved elderly patients. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, the Republican National Committee, the Handyman Club of America, the North American Hunting Club, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the Lions Club in Miami and Interlachen. He was of the Catholic faith. His selfless contributions to the local community will be missed. He enjoyed traveling, hunting, reading, art, classical music, theatre, and opera. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in eternal rest by his two sons, Ramino Motta and J.C. Weaver. He leaves to cherish his memories: sons & daughters, Rodofo Motta, Maria Claudia Motta Geneyro, both of Colombia; Jaime Motta, Jr., Buenos Aires; Adriana Motta and Isabella Motta, both of Texas; stepson, Dustin Weaver of Hollister; brothers, Peter Motta, Colombia; Jairo Motta, Spain; sisters, Coca Carillo, Amparo Motta, Beatriz Huertas, Cecelia Motta Montes, all of Bogato, Colombia; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, other relatives and colleagues. A private memorial will be held at a later date in honor of Dr. Motta.
