Obituary

Jacquez D. "Bo-Jack" Johnson, Jr., 1, lifelong resident of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Sunday, April 29, 2018, in East Palatka, simultaneously with his mother and father, Darrika Word and Jacquez D. Johnson, Sr., and special cousin, Forever Hightower, due to injuries sustained in an auto accident. A native of Gainesville, he was born on Wednesday, June 15, 2016.

Darrika Rashay Word, 21, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Sunday, April 29, 2018, in East Palatka, simultaneously with her son, Jacquez Johnson, Jr. and her special friend, Jacquez D. Johnson, Sr. (her son's father), due to injuries sustained in an auto accident. The daughter of Chattman Word, I and Kimberly Hendrieth, she was born on Monday, March 20, 1997 in Palatka. She was a 2016 graduate of Palatka High School. She was also a former member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. Darrika enjoyed singing, dancing and listening to music and was formerly employed at a fast food restaurant. She was preceded in eternal rest by her sister, Chantel Word; maternal grandparents, James and Shirley Hendrieth; great-grandmother, Carrie Stewart; and aunt ("like a mother"), Kathy D. Wright.

"Bo-Jack" leaves to cherish his memories: maternal grandmother, Kimberly (Harrison, IV) Edwards; maternal grandfather, Chattmon (Arnetta "Faye") Word, I; paternal grandmother, Jocelynn (Rhaheem) Brady, all of Palatka; great-grandparents, Clyde W. Roosevelt (Verdess) Word, Atlanta, GA; Beverly Canty Sanders, Milton Johnson, Marion (Harrison, III) Edwards, Palatka; and Chris Brady Ghousani, Welaka; and a host of aunts and uncles, other relatives and friends.

Fort), Kenyatta Hendrieth, Lamarkita Davis (Joshwon Melton), Lamott Davis, Jodeci Word, Na'Kiyah Gomer, Shakira Williams, Miyon Edwards; "like a sister", Karis (Darryl) Mills, like brothers, Kevis Allen, DeJuan Williams; grandparents, Clyde W. Jenkins, Palatka; Reverend Roosevelt (Verdess) Word, Atlanta, GA; Marion (Harrison, III) Edwards, Palatka; special aunts and uncles, Gussie (Charles) Woodward, Summerville, SC; Steven (Keyonna) Edwards, Jacksonville; Terral (Allen) Hardy, Atlanta, GA; Roosevelt (Pamela) Word, II, Montgomery, AL; god-sister, Breona McBride; and a host of additional aunts and uncles, other relatives and friends.

Visitation of family and friends will be from 5:30-8 p.m., Friday, May 11 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." A joint Celebration of Life will be 11 a.m., Saturday, May 12 at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Avenue, Palatka. Elder Leo A. Parker, II, Associate Minister, New Life Temple Fellowship, is the eulogist. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
