Jacquelyn Yvonne Jackie Simmons Cowell, 60, of Crescent City entered the sunset of life on Friday, January 2, 2009 following an extended illness. She was a native and longtime resident of Crescent City, born February 3, 1948. She was a 1966 graduate of Middleton High School and continued her education at St. Johns River Community College. She formerly resided in Bridgehampton, NY., and Wauchula, FL. Jackie was a member of Johnson Temple Church of God In Christ. Jackie was employed as a compassionate caregiver for mentally challenged children and enjoyed interior designing, gardening, saltwater fishing, and loved her family dearly. Jackies beloved mother, Meltona Ashe Simmons and husband, Albert Al Cowell, preceded her in eternal rest. To cherish her memories: son, Terrence Simmons, Crescent City; 4 sisters, Joyce B. Simmons and Lois Fuller, both of Crescent City; Valorie (Anthony) Ravenall, Oro Valley, AZ; Beverly (Alex) Addison, Vero Beach; 3 brothers, Melvin (Shirley) Simmons, S.C., Tim (Loretta) Simmons and Tony Simmons, both of Crescent City; and a host of other relatives and dear friends. Visitation of friends and family will be Friday, 5-7 p.m. at Johnson Temple Church of God In Christ, 1150 Huntington Road, Crescent City. Homegoing Celebration will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 10th, at Johnson Temple COGIC, Elder H. Harry Banks, Pastor, is the eulogist and former pastor, Elder Dennis Tompkins, presiding. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Crescent City.
