Jacob "Jake" White, 76, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at Flagler Hospital, St. Augustine. Jacob was a (twin) son born to Caleb White and Henrietta (Anderson) White on Sunday, February 12, 1939 in Linton Park, St. Ann Parish, Jamaica. In the 1950s, Jacob moved to Kingston. Jacob was united in Holy Matrimony to his first wife Ruth and they were the parents of seven children. In the 1970s, Jacob went to work in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He later worked for the cruise ship industry in Nassau, Bahamas. In 1972, he migrated to the U.S., and made Palatka his home for over 40 years. He was formerly married to the former Gwendolyn Harmon. He retired from Georgia-Pacific after 24 years of employment. He subsequently married the former Deborah Williams. He was a member of Triumph the Church and Kingdom of God in Christ. Elder John Williams, Pastor. Jacob was a community activist and an entrepreneur, owning Jacob White's Auto Detailing. He and his wife Deborah co-owned White's Family Daycare. "Jake" as he was affectionately called will be long-remembered for his kindness, quick wit and ready laugh. He was a very ambitious and hard-working man who was always smiling and always on the go. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in eternal rest by his siblings, Esau (his twin brother), Masi, Dudley, Oscar, Adina, and Ivy White. He leaves to cherish his memories; his loving and devoted wife, Deborah White, Palatka; children, Cecile Vernon, Donovan White, both of Jamaica, Ruth (Xavier) McBean, Tampa, Wesley White, Fort Lauderdale, Sandra (Alton) Bailey, Yvette White, both of Atlanta, GA, Marva Laws, Canada; step-children, Brenda Harmon, Reginald Trumpler, Reynard Trumpler, all of Palatka, Ralonda Trumpler, Atlanta GA; 17 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; sisters, Myrtle White, Gwendolyn White, Anita White, Essie White, all of Jamaica; two godsons, and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m., Friday, June 12, at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Homegoing celebration will be held Saturday, 12 noon, June 13, at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 322 North 10th Street, Palatka, Reverend Frederick Demps, Pastor. Reverend Johnny Johns, pastor of Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church of Williston, is the eulogist. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery, Palatka.
