IN LOVING MEMORY OF
J C
Curry
July 11, 1944 – February 13, 2024
J.C. Curry, 79, of Palm Coast, entered the sunset of life on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at AdventHealth Stuart F. Meyer Hospice Care Center, Palm Coast. The fourth of six siblings, he was born on Tuesday, July 11, 1944, to Tom Clarence Curry and Lou Alice Curry, in Keysville, Georgia. J.C., as he was commonly known, was also known as "Sugar Man," "Cub," and "Pete". He graduated from Frederick Douglass High School in Upper Marlboro, Maryland and was employed for many years at the Grand Union Warehouse. His religious training was nurtured at the following Churches: Christ United Methodist in Aquasco, Maryland, East Friendship Baptist, in Washington, DC, and Ebeneezer AME in Fort Washington, Maryland.
In 1993, J.C. met and married Cynthia Jenkins, and together they were parents to a blended family of two boys and six girls. Later, J.C. relocated to Palm Coast, Florida, where he joined and accepted Christ at the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church of Palm Coast, on April 8, 2007, where Reverend Edwin Coffie serves as the Pastor. Upon becoming a member of Mt. Calvary, he served in the Benjamin Tribe, as well as the Men's and
Hospitality Ministries. Many of whom J.C. encountered knew one thing; cooking was his "passion"! Those who ate enjoyed his cooking. As members of the Hospitality Ministry, both he and his wife, Cynthia, often displayed their culinary skills during church events, with J.C. being the Head Chef, always at the grill, willingly at the forefront, preparing delicious food, including fried fish, barbecue chicken, and ribs. Forever the Head Chef, he was also honored as such, preparing food for a White House retirement party, during former President Bill Clinton's administration. J.C.'s hobbies included fishing, playing horseshoes, socializing with The Fireflies (a former social group), and serving as a dedicated member of the Guys Under the Tree.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in eternal rest by his two sisters: Fozie B. Williams, Geraldine Brown; brother: Leroy Rollins; sister-in-law: Elizabeth Rollins; three brothers-in-law: Sonny Brown, Earl Lee and Sydney Contee.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife: Cynthia Jenkins-Curry; two sons: Jason (Erica) Curry and Dentajii "Jock" Pickett; six daughters: Dana Plummer, Rathetta (David) Hill, Monica Nedd, Tammy Curry, Viola Lee, and Arneice (Marcus) Holland; 17 grandchildren: DeAndre' (Brittany) Cross, Darryle Peoples Jr., Kayla Nedd, Mateo Nedd, Dontae Hill, Da'Johnna Washington, Malik Richardson, Spencer Gray, Jason Curry Jr., Marcus Valez, Nala Cooper, Nya Flash, Landon Cooper, Randy Crowder, Rylee Crowder, Madison Lee, and Jasmine Curry; one great grandson: Dre'Sean Cross; two sisters: Louise Contee and Mary Lou Lee; one brother: Frank Douglas; two sisters-in-law Zelma (Joe) Fort, Alfreda (David) Britt; three brothers-in-law: Thomas (Doris) Jenkins, Everett (Sherry) Jenkins, Maurice (Terry) Jenkins; one godchild: Lucinda McIntosh and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, his church family, and the caretakers who showered him with special, loving care during his short illness. J. C.'s legacy will live on!
Celebration of J.C.'s Life will be 12 noon, Saturday, March 2 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 75 Pine Lakes Parkway South, Palm Coast, with visitation one hour prior.
