June 1, 1941 – May 13, 2008
Izell Joe the Runner McCaskill, Jr., Palatka native and longtime Sanford resident, entered the sunset of life on Tuesday, May 13th, 2008 at Haven Hospice of the Lakes- Roberts Care Center, Palatka following an extended illness. The son of Izell McCaskill, Sr. & Eddie Mae (Junior) McCaskill, he was born Sunday, June 1st 1941. He was educated in the Putnam County School District (Central Academy High School). In his childhood years, he attended Bethel A.M.E. Church along with his maternal grandmother, Havana Junior. As a young man in his early 20s he moved to Sanford and has resided there ever since. He was a handyman who enjoyed landscaping, baseball, wrestling and watching western shows. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in eternal rest by 6 uncles and 5 aunts.
He leaves to cherish his memories: 6 children, including 2 daughters, Delores Pearce, Palatka and Eddie Toy Williams, New Orleans, LA., 3 brothers, Tommy (Deloris) McCaskill, Cape Charles, VA., Rudolph McCaskill, Tallahassee; Michael (Dee) Hart, Palatka; 5 sisters, Wanda Jean (Lewis) Fort, Temple, TX, Ethel (Carl) Ellis, Palatka, FL, Louvenia Shelley, Rome, GA, Felicia (Johnny) Floyd, Palatka; Mary (Jordan) Hendricks, Orange Park; step-mother, Katie Mae McCaskill, Palatka; 3 aunts & 3 uncles; grandchildren & great grandchildren, nieces & nephews including devoted nephew Mark Webb, Palatka; other relatives and caring friends, especially special friend, Estella Patterson, Sanford.
Visitation of family & friends will be Saturday, May 17th, from 9am -1 pm with Homegoing Services to follow at 1 p.m. at the Chapel of Serenity, with Minister Mack Peak, associate minister of New Mt. Zion Baptist Church, officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial tributes to be sent to Haven Hospice of the Lakes-Roberts Care Center in loving memory of Mr. Izell McCaskill, Jr.
