Izel Session, Sr., 89, of East Palatka, entered the sunset of life on January 28, 2023, at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center, Palatka.  The son of Samuel Session, Sr. and Maebell Session, he was born on Tuesday, April 18, 1933, in Picolata, Florida.   He was educated in the St. Johns County School District.

Izel worked in the pulpwood industry and was the owner and operator of Session Logging. His hobbies included fishing, hunting and attending family gatherings.  He was of the Christian faith and attended Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, Palatka.

In addition to his parents, Izel was preceded in eternal rest by his brothers, Sam Session Jr., J. B. Session, Lloyd Session, Billy Session,  Robert Session, Johnson Session, Leroy Session, Willie Lee Session; and grandson, Malcolm Smith.

Izel leaves to cherish his memories: wife, Wilene Session; daughters , Patricia (Joseph) Franklin, Brenda Shanks, Cynthia (Edward) James, Wanda Smith; sons Tyree (Hattie) Session, Izel (Marilyn) Session, Jr., Tommy (Janene) Session, Jaylyn Session, Alvin Session; brother , Elijah (Karen) Session; sister, Betty Session; daughter , Thelma McLean; 22 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, other relatives and close friends.

Visitation of family and friends will be held 9 -11 a.m. with a Celebration of Life commencing 11 a.m., Saturday, February 11 at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Ave, Palatka. Reverend Tommy J. Rodgers, Bethlehem Baptist Church, is the eulogist. Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery, San Mateo.
