Obituary

Issac "Big Ike" Johnson, 80, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Thursday, June 4th at Palatka Health Care Center following an extended illness. A native of Nunez, Georgia, he was born September 30, 1928 to the union of Thomas & Lettie (Mincy) Johnson. He was educated in the Emanuel County GA School District. He has been a 55-yr resident of Putnam County. He was very talented entrepreneur who over many years worked as a self-employed concrete finisher, logger at the former Hudson Pulp & Paper Mill and timber cutter and lifter for Brown's Logging Company. Issac was united in marriage to the former Lelia Mae Watson on July 7, 1950 in Swainsboro, GA. He was a gifted gardener, talented auto mechanic and auto body repairman, avid fisherman and handyman. He was a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in eternal rest by his son, Timmie Lee Johnson; brothers, William, Willie, and Thomas Johnson Jr., sisters, Claudia Mae Moore and Betty Byrd, Granddaughter, Chasity Johnson.

To cherish his memories: devoted wife of 58 yrs, Lelia Mae "Ms. Jim" Johnson, Palatka; Daughters, Lillie Bell Jackie (Ronald) Kelly, Gainesville; Evelyn (Thomas) Ellerbe, Atlanta, GA., Connie Faye (Arliss C. Jr.) Walker, Jacksonville; Janet Marie (Willie) Ross, Palatka; Kimberly Anita (Cecil) Edwards, Palatka; Sons, Bobby Ray Johnson; Issac(Brenda) Johnson Jr.; Milton (Beverly) Johnson, all of Palatka; Brother, Sylvester Johnson, Palatka; Sisters, Lillie Bell Bradshaw, Palatka; Wylean (Claude) Murray, Palatka; Dora Lee Patterson, Stillmore, GA; Alberta Watson, Lake Worth, FL; Betty ("W.J") Durden, Miami, FL; 24 Grandchildren; 33 Great Grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation of family & friends will be from 5-8 pm, Friday, June 12th at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, 800 Madison Street, Palatka, Rev. Clarence Mallory, Jr., Pastor. Homegoing services will be 12 Noon Saturday, June 13th at Mt Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Ave., Palatka. Rev. Stanley Moore, (Nephew), Pastor of Greater St. James Missionary Baptist Church, Swainsboro, GA is the Eulogist.
