Irene Virginia Davis Gilbert, 64, Massapequa, N.Y., entered the sunset of life on Friday, April 29th at Winthrop University Hospital, Mineola, N.Y., following an extended illness. A native of Putnam Hall, she was born Monday, January 27, 1947 to Lindsey and Lucille Agnes (Green) Davis, Sr. Irene was a 1965 graduate of Central Academy High School, Palatka. She resided in New York for the past 44 years and was a retired Certified Nursing Assistant employed for 35 years at the Long Island Developmental Center. Irene was of the Baptist faith and she loved to shop and enjoyed caring for her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in eternal rest by brothers, Lindsey Davis, Jr., Alfred Davis, and John L. Davis; sisters, Dorothy L. McCaskill and Claretha Ford.

To cherish everlasting memories: devoted and loving husband, Jesse J. Gilbert; daughter, Karen L. Gilbert; son, Christopher Gilbert; Grandchildren, Arielle Gilbert; Brianna Vallon, Jaylen Gilbert, Melania Gilbert all of Massapequa, NY and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and sorrowing friends.

Homegoing Celebration will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 14 at Abilene Missionary Baptist Church, 187 Putnam Loop Road, Putnam Hall, Rev. James A. Pullings, Pastor. Bishop Dr. K.A. Tenah, Lighthouse Evangelical Pentecostal Church, Gainesville, is the eulogist.

Interment will be in Abilene Cemetery. The cortege will assemble at the church.
