IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Inez J.
Nealy
July 5, 1934 – April 6, 2021
Inez Jackson Nealy, 86, of Savannah, GA (formerly of Palatka), entered the sunset of life on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Savannah, GA. A native of Federal Point and the daughter of James Fernandez Jackson, Sr. and Lula (Jenkins) Jackson, she was born on Thursday, July 5, 1934. She was educated in the Putnam County School System. Inez met her late husband Alton R. Nealy in Palatka. In November 1953 they were united in holy matrimony and later became parents of seven children. The couple moved to Perth Amboy, NJ and resided there for over 50 years before returning to Palatka. While living in New Jersey, Inez worked summer jobs in the domestic and warehouse industry, however, most of her time was spent nurturing her children. Inez and Alton returned to Palatka and she united with Pentecostal Church of God in Christ, under the pastoral leadership of Superintendent Johnny Shaw, where she faithfully served as a Sunday School Teacher. In February 2017, Inez and Alton relocated to Savannah, GA to be closer to their daughters. While residing in Savannah, Inez fellowshipped with Living Worship Center, under the leadership of Bishop Calvin N. Singleton, Sr. and became a member of Anchored in Christ Ministries, under the leadership of Pastor Marcellus Lanfair. Pastor Lanfair and his ministry have dedicated a room on behalf of Inez called "Nezzy's Room".
In addition to her parents and husband, Inez was preceded in eternal rest by her sister, Ruthie Lee Hamblin; daughters, Kathy E. Nealy, Carolyn G. Nealy-Chatman; son-in-law, Philip Chatman, Jr. (Feb. 2021).
She leaves to cherish her memories: son, Alton (Darlene) Nealy, Jr., Keasbey, NJ; daughters, First Lady Rosemary (Bishop Calvin) Singleton, Christine Nealy, Tammy (Zandy) Nealy, all of Savannah, GA; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Thelma Eure, Plainfield, NJ; brother, James (Ida) Jackson, Jr., Kennesaw, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, April 16 at Flagg's Chapel of Serenity, Palatka. Homegoing Celebration will be held graveside 11 a.m.., Saturday, April 17 at Pattersonville Cemetery, 275 CR 207A, East Palatka, FL.
