Obituary

Dr. Howard T. Williams, 71, of El Paso, TX., entered the sunset of life on Sunday, August 4, 2019 at his residence. The son of Houston, Sr., and Curlease (Rambert) Williams, he was born on Friday, December 12, 1947 in Palatka. He received his early education at Central Academy Elementary School and was a 1965 graduate of Central Academy High School. After graduating from high school, he attended St. Johns River Community College for one year and decided to relocate to East Orange, NJ, where he was hired by the State of New Jersey to work at Greystone Psychiatric Hospital. While working at Greystone Psychiatric Hospital, he was drafted by the U.S. Army, but decided to enlist in the U.S. Air Force. Howard was assigned to complete basic training and special training in Amarillo Texas, during his training he received a medal of leadership for his outstanding performance.

After serving his country for four years, he returned to New Jersey and lived with his brother in Trenton. While staying in Trenton, he attended McAllister Institute for Mortuary of Science in New York City. After completing Mortuary School, he worked for Anderson Funeral Services for a brief period, but decided to move back to East Orange, NJ, to pursue a career in Dentistry. He was re-employed at Greystone Psychiatric Hospital, while he attended Fairleigh Dickinson University, and earned a Bachelor's degree in Biology.

He subsequently applied to the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ), and attended UMDNJ for three years. After passing the first half of the state board exams, he transferred to El Paso, Texas and earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree. He practiced Dentistry for many years in the El Paso region until retirement.
Howard loved dancing, wearing fine attire, and being a consummate dentist. He enjoyed helping people and he never met a stranger, he was outgoing and had a vivacious personality. He loved using his hands in working around the house fixing and making repairs. One of his favorite sayings, written in his senior class year book and frequently recited by his beloved mother was "A still tongue carries a wise head."

In addition to his parents, Howard was preceded in eternal rest by his brother, Lonnie Johnson; sister Myrtle M. McKinney; son Kenneth T. Williams; and uncle George Rambert, Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memories: several children including, devoted daughter, LaShawn Williams, Avenel, NJ; sons, Kenneth T. Williams, Torey Williams, Irvington, NJ; Craig Fells, Palatka; 4 granddaughters, Kiana L. Nichols, Kira M. Concepcion, Latifah S. Hill, Shaquan Baker, siblings, Eddie B. (Patricia) Sanders, Daytona Beach; Deloris Cook, Hamilton, NJ; Houston Williams Jr., Palatka; State Elder Dr. Hudson A. (Nina D.) Williams, Sr., Absecon, NJ; Clifford A. Williams, Palatka; Michael (Denise) Williams, Alphonso Williams, Angela Williams (Curtis) Powell, all of West Palm Beach; paternal aunts and uncles, Catherine Loud, Lilly Bell Caperes, Dorothy Lipton, all of Miami; Emma Williams, Pensacola; Joseph Lee Rambert, Atlanta, GA; nieces and nephews, Kenneth Sanders and Jessie Sanders, Atlanta, GA; Cherlyn (Calvin) Canty, San Mateo; Rosalyn Johnson, Orlando; Lonniesha Kelly and Ronniesha Johnson, Desmond Johnson and Lonnie Junior Johnson, Cynthia Annette (Daryl) Session, James Tyrone Williams, all of Palatka; Lonnie Tyrone Johnson, Gainesville; Arnita Renee (Freeman) Earl, Deron T. Williams, Ewing, NJ; Hudson A. Williams, Jr., Trenton, NJ; Alicia S. (Jason) Allen, Jacksonville; Curlease (Daniel) Kelly, Deland; Derrick Williams, Ormond Beach; Shavon S. Pearce, Charlotte, NC; Dr. Robin C. McKinney, and Tiffany M. (Sean) Gardener, New York, NY; Taneshia Williams, Tampa; special, loving god-sister, Shirley Allen; and a host of other caring relatives and friends.

Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m., Friday, August 16, at Flagg's Chapel of Serenity. Homegoing Celebration will be 11 a.m., Saturday, August 17, at House of God Church, 723 North 19th Street, Palatka, Bishop G. L. Evans, Jr., Pastor. State Elder Frank Matthews, Jacksonville House of God, is the eulogist.
