Howard Lloyd Walker, 86, of Georgetown completed his earthly journey in exchange for his heavenly home on Saturday, March 14, 2015 while briefly receiving care at Haven Hospice of the Lakes-Roberts Care Center, Palatka. A native of Georgetown, he was born on Wednesday, March 28, 1928 to Walter and Eugenia (Maddox) Walker. He was educated in the Putnam County School District. Pvt. Walker served in the 2nd Division, 9th Infantry Regiment during the Korean War from October 16, 1952 to July 24, 1954 and earned an honorable discharge. Following his military service, he became an avid fisherman who spent long days and nights along the St. Johns River or the lakes within Putnam and Volusia Counties. In 1964, he relocated to up-state New York, where he was an apple orchard operator. In 2003, he returned to Georgetown to be closer to his family for personal care, love, and support. Howard was a kind, humble and quiet man with a loving spirit who always greeted or left you with "God bless you." He really loved to drive his old brown Buick to go grocery shopping, dine out at the Chinese restaurant, or to simply take daily trips to the local convenience store for snacks and soda. He was an avid "old-school" Los Angeles Dodgers fan who also enjoyed watching his favorite gameshows, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. In addition to his parents, Howard was preceded in eternal rest by his wife, Louise Walker; brothers, Waldren, Leroy, Lonnie, Teddy, and Alonzo Walker; sisters, Dolly Walker Cook, Edna Walker, Helen Walker Oxendine, and LaFrance Walker; two special sons, Lonell Wilson, Jr., and Lawrence Goss; beloved nephew, Edward Walker.
