Howard Eugene Spotford, 62, of Tampa, the son of Allen Nathaniel Bill and Audrey Louise (Goodman) Spotford, was born on Monday, November 1, 1948 in Tampa, Florida and entered the sunset of life on Thursday, November 4, 2010 at his residence. He was educated in the Hillsborough County School District and a graduate of Middleton Senior High School, Class of 1966. At an early age, Howard was baptized at Greater Bethel Baptist Church, Tampa. He has been a resident of Palatka for the past 10 years returning to Tampa seven months ago. On August 4, 2007, Howard united in Holy Matrimony to the former Shelia Graham. He was a former member of Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church and was a member of the Palatka Church of God by Faith until they recently joined Little Rock Church of God By Faith in Tampa. Howard was a self-employed entrepreneur as a Master Barber for the past decade in Palatka and was affectionately known as Mr. Howard by his numerous loyal clients. He was preceded in eternal rest his parents, Allen Bill and Audrey Spotford; Grandmother, Edith Porter; and Nephew, Allen Lovett.
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife of 3 years: Shelia Graham-Spotford, Tampa; two sons, Dwayne Spotford, Palm Bay; Jerrold Barlow Graham, Afghanistan; two daughters Tammi Daniels, Palm Bay; and Johnsha Holcy, Tallahassee; two Granddaughters, Keshuna and Kuentae Spotford, both of Palm Bay, FL; two sisters Carolyn S. Williams and Gloria (Claude) Rhanes, both of Tampa; mother-in-law, Daisy Mae Graham, Welaka; fatherin-law, Lois (Tammy) Graham, Fort Myers; sisters-in-law Jannet (Inocencio) Amaro, Atlantic City, N.J.; Elizabeth (Alfred) Johnson of Welaka; Alma Woods, Pensacola; Althea (Lorenza) Holcy, Houston, TX; Maelois (Roosevelt) Freeman of Fayetteville, N.C.; Irene (Thomas)Tolbert, Seville; brothers-in-law, Abraham (Angela) Dennis, Denver, CO; James (Alicia) Reed of Tampa; godmother, Willard Taylor of Crescent City; god daughter, Jimmya Bellamy, Palatka; two best friends Ronnie Anderson of Baltimore, MD; Robert Hartsfield of Palatka; and a host of cousins, other sorrowing relatives, friends and loved ones.
Visitation of family and friends will be from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, November 12, at the Chapel of Serenity. Homegoing Celebration will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Palatka Church of God by Faith, 1511 Washington Street, Palatka, Elder Phillip Thomas, pastor, presiding. Superintendent James Williams, pastor of Little Rock Church of God by Faith, Tampa, is the eulogist. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
