Hilbert Leon Hampton, 33, of Jacksonville (former Palatka resident) entered the sunset of life on Friday, April 17, 2015 at St. Vincent's Medical Center-Riverside, Jacksonville. A native of Gainesville, Hilbert was the son of Donald Hampton, Sr. and Lorraine Bolling, born on Monday, December 14, 1981. He was educated in the Putnam County School District and subsequently earned his Associate's degree from FSCJ in 2011. Hilbert was presently a full-time student at Florida State College-Jacksonville and is listed as an honor graduate (posthumously on Thursday, May 7, 2015) earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education. He has been the recipient of numerous Foundational Scholarships and Scholastic honors included several times on the President's list and Dean's list from 2010-2013. His educational pursuit also led him to the University of North Florida, Jacksonville where he had already completed 9 credit hours on his declared major in Health Science. Hilbert was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Hilbert's main life lesson was to always trust and believe in God and acknowledge Him in all his ways and endeavors. His hobbies included his absolute enjoyment of fishing and baking. Hilbert was preceded in eternal rest by his father, Donald Hampton, Sr. To cherish his memories: devoted mother, Lorraine Bolling, Palatka; three brothers, Donald Hampton, Jr., Aaron Bolling, and Antwaun Barlow, all of Palatka; four sisters, Donnett Hampton, Sarah Bolling, Don'nesha Hampton, and Kiesha Parkinson all of Palatka; special friend, LaRonda Passmore, Palatka; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and caring friends. Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m. Friday, April 24, at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Celebration of Life will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, April 25, at Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church, 115 Pine Street, East Palatka, Reverend Titerian Fields, Pastor, is the eulogist. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery, Palatka
