Herman Bryant, Sr., 80, of Hastings, entered the sunset of life on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at his residence. The son of Ernest Bryant and Hattie Bell (Mitchell) Session, he was born on Friday, September 10, 1937 in Hastings. He was educated in the St. Johns County School District, and was a 1956 graduate of Walter E. Harris High School. Herman was employed with Asgrow Chemical Company for over 25 years. He was a former member of Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church, Hastings. Herman loved to hang out with his friends, and for many years, he enjoyed photography.
In addition to his parents, Herman was preceded in eternal rest by his loving wife, Mercedes Jones Bryant; son, Herman Bryant, Jr., son-in-law, Anthony E. Newsome; sister-in-law, Nellie Johns Robinson.

Bryant, Barry (Betty) Bryant, all of Hastings; Lorenzo (Betty) Bryant, Ocala; 16 grandchildren,Tomikia Peterson, Chantay (David) Mack, Tori Newsome, Shantea (Alvante) Pearson, Keneisha Bryant, Anthony Newsome, Jr., Chia Terry, Gene Bryant, Jr., Dustin Bryant, Ari Newsome, Zakery Bryant, Tra-niece English, Sarai English, Sarye English, Kamaria English, Solomon English; 23 great-grandchildren; brothers, James Dennis, Ron Session, both of Philadelphia, PA; sister, Oretha Session, Philadelphia, PA; sister-in-law, Helen King, Hastings; brother-in-law, Thomas (Erline) Jones, St. Augustine; "like daughters," Azubah Leggon, Chavah Yisreal, both of Gainesville; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation of family and friends at will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, October 13 and Celebration of Herman's Life will be 2 p.m., Saturday, October 14 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Reverend Karl N. Flagg, Pastor of Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, officiating.
