Herman Lee Smith, Sr., 58, of Bunnell entered the sunset of life on Monday, June 26, 2017 at Florida Hospital Flagler, Palm Coast. The son of Wilbert Chester Smith, Sr. and Mae Lizer (Cole) Smith, he was born on Saturday, February 7, 1959. He was educated in the Flagler County School District. Herman was employed at Truss Systems LLC, Bunnell, for over 30 years. In his early years, he attended Mt. Moriah Methodist Church, Bunnell.

In addition to his father, Herman was preceded in eternal rest by his brother, Wilbert Chester Smith, Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memories: mother, Mae Lizer Smith, Bunnell; sons, Herman Smith, Jr., Bunnell; Maurice Godwin, Gainesville; daughter, Sonya Smith, Bunnell; 5 grandchildren; sisters, Tracy Gervin (Willie) Johnson, Daytona Beach; Vera Giddens, Palm Coast; Katie (Joe) Turner, Linda Smith, Gloria Smith, Beatrice Smith, all of Bunnell; Pearl (Earl) Thomas, Montgomery, AL; brothers, David Gervin, Michael Love, both of Daytona Beach; godson, Kenyon Earnest Hall, Bunnell; and a host of other relatives and friends, including Herman, Jr. and Sonya's mother, Barbara Glover, Palm Coast; special family friends, Betty Brown and Joanne Brown, both of Bunnell.

Visitation of family and friends will be 5:30-7 p.m., Friday, July 7 and Homegoing Celebration will be 11 a.m., Saturday, July 8, at St. James Missionary Baptist Church, 609 State St., Bunnell, Rev. Patrick Wilkerson, Pastor. Rev. Michael McKay, Pastor of Greater Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, Palatka, is the Eulogist. Interment will be in Masonic Cemetery, Palm Coast.
