Henry McNeil, Jr., 62, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Wednesday, May 15, 2013. A native of Daytona Beach, he was born on Sunday, October 1, 1950 to Henry and Sally Mae (Watts) McNeil, Sr. He attended Central Academy High School and later joined the U.S. Army. In 1974, he was united in marriage to Carolyn Woods and they resided in Fairfield, NC., for 37 years, returning to Palatka two years ago. He was a retired farm laborer and he loved fishing and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in eternal rest by his brother, Ernest McNeil and sisters, Elizabeth McNeil, Rosa Mae McNeil. Those who cherish his memories: wife, Carolyn Woods McNeal; children, Charles McNeil, Myra Denise McNeil, all of Fairfield, NC; Beverly Shelton, Engelhard, NC; brothers & sisters, Sarah McNeil and Viola McNeil, both of Ft. Myers; Ricky McNeil, Willie Lee McNeil, Dora Mae (Franklin) Kaymore, Carolyn Jones, Doris Jean Mathews-Sampson, and Richard Mathews, all of Palatka; step-sister, Lisa Mathews, Palatka; step-brother, Vincent (Sharlene) Smith, Bunnell; and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday, May 24 at Rowsom Funeral Home Chapel, 410 Railroad Street, Columbia, NC. Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 25 at Star Zion Church of Christ, 9725 Piney Wood Road, Fairfield, NC. Interment will be in Fairfield Cemetery, Fairfield, NC.
