Henry Wilcox, Jr., 85 of Green Cove Springs, entered the sunset of life on Friday, July 21, 2017 in Orange Park. The son of Henry and Carrie (Jackson) Wilcox, Sr., he was born on Sunday, May 15, 1932 in Glenmora, Louisiana. He was educated in the Clay County School District at Dunbar High School in Green Cove Springs. In 1951, he enlisted in the United States Army, and gratefully served our nation until he was honorably discharged. He was a retired employee with Associated Minerals, Green Cove Springs. He was of the Baptist faith and was a former member of Trinity Baptist Church. He loved spending time with his children and telling jokes.
In addition to his parents, Henry was preceded in eternal rest by his devoted wife of 40 years, Maudie Johnson Wilcox; daughter, Patricia Robinson; son, Ray Edwards; sisters, Elenora Williams, Deborah Brown, LuEthel Acker, and Rosa Eady; brother, James T. Wilcox.
To cherish his memories: daughters and sons, Leatha W. (Vandy) Johnson, Brenda Edwards, Beverly (Wendell) Purifoy; Joyce Edwards, Thomas Edwards, Ned Edwards, Jimmy Edwards, Bruce Edwards; 7 grandchildren; sisters, Magnolia Byrd, Ruby McCloud, Ethel (Rev. Robert L.) Wright; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be 4-5:30 p.m., Friday, July 28 and Homegoing Celebration (U.S. Army conducting military honors) will be 11 a.m., Saturday, July 29, at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, 1300 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Green Cove Springs, Reverend Robert L. Wright, Pastor, is the eulogist. Interment will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Green Cove Springs.
