Harvey Lee Coring, Jr., 75, a native & lifelong resident of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Monday, June 1, 2015, at his residence. He was born on Thursday, August 31, 1939 to Harvey Lee Coring, Sr. and Willie Ida (Calhoun) Coring. He was a graduate of Central Academy High School class of 1958. Upon graduation Harvey enlisted in the United States Army. He was a member of Holy Word Revival Center. In 1967, Harvey was employed as a police officer for the Palatka Police Department. He later became a Farming Contractor until his health began to decline. Harvey loved spending time with his family and friends and would often bar-b-que at the family cookouts. He was preceded in eternal rest by his parents. He leaves to cherish his memories: sons, Harvey Lee Coring, III, Ronkeshya Coring, Edison Hill, all of Palatka, Ricky (Wannell) Coring, Tony (Nikki) Coring, both of Tallahassee; stepsons, Willie Watts, Eddie Betts, Sammie Stewart, all of Palatka; daughters, Lavern (Ronald) Meadows, Middleburg, Yolanda (Reginald) Parker, Tamekeia (Michael) Turner, both of Palatka, Pamela Coring, Tallahassee, Dee Dee Smith, New York; stepdaughters, Sharon Brown, Annie Mae Stewart, both of Palatka; sister, Bernice Dotson, Daytona; aunt, Elmira Robinson, Palatka; goddaughter, La'Kinya Wright; 35 grandchildren; 30 great- grandchildren; very close friend and former-wife, Annie Doris Coring, Palatka, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m., Friday, June 12 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Homegoing Celebration will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 13, at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 719 Reid Street, Palatka, Reverend James McGriff, Pastor. Pastor Vivian Johnson, Holy Word Revival Center is the eulogist. Interment with military honors will be in the Oak Hill West Cemetery, 712 S. Palm Avenue, Palatka.
