Deacon Harry Grant, Jr., 74, of Palatka entered the sunset of life on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at St. Augustine Health & Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness. A native of Savannah, Georgia, he was born on Monday, May 1, 1939 to Harry & Mamie (Lowman) Grant, Sr. He was educated in the Chatham County (Savannah, GA) School District. He moved to North Carolina briefly and was a migrant worker before moving to Putnam County in 1962. On July 3, 1975, he was united in marriage to the former Mae Bell Norton. He was a very industrious working man in pulpwood and a provider for his family over the years. He served many years as a Deacon at To God Be The Glory Holiness Church until declining health prevailed. "Brown" as he was affectionately called enjoyed spending time with family and friends and his hobbies included hauling junk, walking and fishing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in eternal rest by his brother, Alfred Grant and sister-in-law, Annie Grant. Those who cherish his memories: wife of 38 years, Pastor Mae Bell Grant; sons & daughters, Rose (Grady) Scott, Arthur Lee Grant, Fannie Mae (Ulysses, Sr.) Butler, Louise Grant, all of Palatka, Shirley Grant and Johnnie Mae Grant, both of Atlanta, GA., siblings, Rosemary Grant and Phyllis Lowman, both of Savannah, GA., Tina Reed, Luvenia Spears, Willie (Edna) Grant, and Moses (Joann) Grant, all of Pahokee, FL; 21 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren and a host nieces, nephews, other caring relatives and friends. Visitation of family and friends will be 5- 8 pm Friday at Flagg's Chapel of Serenity. Homegoing Celebration will be 2 p.m. Saturday, October 19 at To God Be the Glory Holiness Church, 3521 St. Johns Avenue, Palatka, Dr. Ruth Lowe-Reaves, Founder & Overseer; Minister Linda G. Hall, Pastor. Deacon Clarence Simmons is the eulogist. Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery, San Mateo
