Harry Austin, 67, a native and lifelong resident of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at his residence. The son of Corrine Austin and Benjamin Robinson, he was born on Thursday, May 10, 1951. He was a 1970 graduate of Palatka South High School. Harry was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church, where he served faithfully on the Usher Board, Trustee Board, Male Chorus, and Sons of Allen Men's Ministry. He was a longtime employee of Florida Furniture Industries and also worked for Best Packers. Harry was a humble, fun-loving person who loved his family and friends wholeheartedly. He was a faithful brother to his twin sister Harriet and her family during her illness, and he was the best uncle to his nieces and nephews. He brought liveliness to all of the family activities. He was an avid sports fan, especially the Florida Gators.
In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in eternal rest by his twin-sister, Harriet (Henry) Austin Williams; sister, Dorothy Jackson Maxwell; niece, Keturah Williams Middlebrook; nephew, Freddie Lee Jackson.
He leaves to cherish his memories: nieces, Elizabeth Jackson, Erica W. (Sylvester) Brinson; nephew, Dwayne T. Williams, Sr.; special companion, Tammy Bowles Fells; devoted cousin like a sister, Connetta Jones-Williams; step-sons, Timothy Sheffield and T.J. Wilkerson; siblings, Winifred Emanuel; Frederick Carl (Barbara) Robinson; Diane, Patricia, Calvin, and Joyce White; and a host of caring relatives and friends, including his special bond with lil' miss China Bowles.
Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m., on Friday, November 9 at Flagg's Chapel of Serenity. Homegoing Celebration will be 11 a.m., Saturday, November 10 at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 719 Reid Street, Palatka, Reverend James McGriff, Pastor, is the eulogist.
