Obituary

Hardy Joseph Williams, Sr., 77, of Palm Coast, entered the sunset of life on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Florida Hospital Flagler, Palm Coast. The son of Albert and Rose (Rhodes) Williams, he was born on Monday, November 25, 1940 in Brooklyn, NY, as the third child of sixteen children. He was educated in the Kings County NY School District at St. Ambrose Catholic School and Hamilton High School. On July 3, 1965, he was united in marriage to Audrey Eubanks-Sanders, and they became the proud parents of two sons, Hardy, Jr. and Dennis. He was a devoted and loving husband and an especially proud father. He truly believed it was extremely important to be a good provider for his family, sometimes working three jobs at a time. Hardy was a railroad trackman for the New York City Transit. He was employed as a mail handler and mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. Even through ups and downs, Hardy persevered together with the love of his life, Audrey, for over fifty-two years. They were longtime residents of New York and in 1996 relocated to Marietta, GA. Upon retirement, they became residents of Palm Coast in 2004.

He loved his music, especially oldies and jazz. In his early years, Hardy and his group could be found singing on the stoop or street corner. Besides his music, Hardy and his friend Al enjoyed shooting basketball (thank you Al for always being there for Hardy). Hardy enjoyed his church family very much. He was appreciative of Pastors Robert "Bob" Hayes and Lynford Williams for mentoring and guiding him. When getting ready for church on the Sabbath, he would often ask Audrey, "how do I look?" He truly enjoyed having the sisters give him hugs and kisses, especially Sis. Beryl. (There is much that can be said about Hardy Williams, but there is neither space nor time.) Everyone who knew him will have their own recollections. Even when it seemed everyone was angry about something, Hardy still loved and insisted on the family doing the right thing. He always had an opinion and never had a problem letting it be known.

In addition to his parents, Hardy was preceded in eternal rest by his: brothers, Albert, James, Ronald, Robert and Raymond Williams; sisters, Mamie Windley and Gloria Williams.

He leaves to cherish his memories: loving and devoted wife, Audrey Jeanette Williams, Palm Coast; sons, Hardy Williams, Jr., Queens, NY; Dennis Williams, Atlanta, GA; 2 granddaughters, Domanique and Loren (Tyrell, Sr.); 3 great-grandchildren, Daniel, Dadion, and Tyrell; sisters, Helen Thompson, Charlotte, NC; Catherine Kenyatta, Brooklyn, NY; brothers, Wiley (Barbara) Williams, Glendale, AZ, Lawrence (Carolyn) Williams, Newport News, VA; George (Joan) Williams, Brooklyn, NY; Donald Williams, Charlotte, NC; Edward "East" Williams, Coney Island, NY; Harold Williams, Brooklyn, NY; aunt, Arabelle Holder, Brooklyn, NY; uncle, Darnell Williams and Edwin Holder, both of Brooklyn, NY; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation of family and friends will be held 1-2 p.m. and A Celebration of Hardy's Life will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, January 17th at Palm Coast Seventh-day Adventist Church, 5650 Belle Terre Parkway, Palm Coast, Florida, with Elder Robert Hayes, officiating.
