Deaconess Gwendolyn "Pudden" Seymour Harrell, 73, a native and lifelong resident of Palatka, quietly entered eternal rest on Saturday, March 19, 2016, at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center. The daughter of Isaiah Seymour and Mary Eliza "Li" (Jordan) Thomas, she was born on Tuesday, September 22, 1942. She was a graduate of Central Academy High School. In her early years, she was a housekeeper at the former William Penn Motel. She was a loyal, longtime Putnam County School District employee, serving 33 years at Palatka South High School and retiring at Palatka High School. She was a former member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, Lundy. For over 23 years, she served the Lord faithfully at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church. She was actively affiliated with the Deaconess, Senior Choir, and Usher Ministries until declining health prevailed. She was an avid cook who enjoyed shopping, gardening, and eating out at various restaurants.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in eternal rest by her husband, Reverend Jack Harrell, Sr., siblings, Brenda T. Valentine, Rose "Mommy" Lewis, Isaiah Seymour and John Henry Seymour; nephew, Ithiel Raymon Isom.
She leaves to cherish her memories: devoted daughters , Gwendolyn "Evelyn" Junior, Bonnie Junior, both of Palatka; stepson, Jack Harrell, Jr., Palatka; sisters, Marsha Miller, Linda (Jimmie) Taylor, Elizabeth Shingles, Sandra (Victor) Peoples, all of Palatka; Nora (Bobby) Walker, Muskegan, MI; brothers , Timothy (Pamala) Thomas, Sr., Cecil (Katherine) Thomas, Willie (Annie Mae) Battles, Sr., Frank (Brenda) Cooper, all of Palatka, Kenneth (Angela) Thomas, San Antonio, TX; Charles Thomas, Columbus, OH; great aunt, Ella Lesene; 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, goddaughters, Carol Wright, DeShawnda Alexander; god-sister, Theodosia Purifoy; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m., Friday, March 25 at Mt. Tabor. Homegoing Celebration will be 11 a.m., Saturday, March 26, at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Avenue, Palatka, Reverend Karl N. Flagg, Pastor is the Eulogist. Interment will be in Oak Hill West CemeteryVisits: 0
