Obituary

Gussie Lee Baker Brown, 59, retired homemaker of East Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Thursday, December 3 at Putnam Community Medical Center following an extended illness.

The daughter of Gus Baker and Rosalie (Prince) Baker, she was born Thursday, April 20, 1950 in Hastings, FL. Gussie was a 1968 graduate of Walter E. Harris High School in Hastings and later attended St. Johns River Community College. She moved to Palatka in 1971 and relocated to East Palatka in 1998. On May 17, 1971, she was united in marriage to Adolph Brown. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Gussie enjoyed visiting numerous churches and was like a second mother to many of the neighborhood children.

Gussie was preceded in eternal rest by her Father, Gus Baker; 3 sisters, Daisy Baldwin, Violet Faggen and Martha Baker; Maternal Grandparents, Bud and Viola Prince.

She leaves to cherish her memories: Loving and devoted husband of 38 years, Adolph Brown Sr., East Palatka; Sons, Adolph Brown Jr., Eric Brown, Romeo Brown, Dexter Brown all of Palatka; Derrick (Brenna) Brown, Savannah, GA., Daughters, Cashenna Gibbs, Palm Coast; Alicia (Joe) Poppelreiter, Orange Park; Mother, Rosalie Dorsey, Palatka; Siblings, Gus Baker, Mary (Roosevelt) Oxendine, both of Hastings; Cynthia (Tommy) Robinson, Palatka; Belinda Farmer, Memphis TN; James Baker, and Neil (Pam) Watson, both of Dover, DE; brothersin-law, Douglas Brown, Tampa; Joseph (Barbara) Brown, Palatka; Special Aunt and Uncle, Rosa Mae (Joseph) Tolbert, Hastings; 22 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Visitation of family and friends will be Friday December 11 from 5-8 p.m. with the Homegoing Celebration 11 a.m. Saturday, December 12th at The Chapel of Serenity, 2400 Madison Street, Palatka. Elder James Campbell, Sr., assistant pastor of To God Be the Glory Holiness Church is the eulogist. Friends may sign the Brown familys guestbook at www.flaggserenitychapel.com.
