Obituary

Grady Clifford Reed, 69, of Palatka, heard his Master's voice, answered His call and transitioned into eternal rest on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Putnam Community Medical Center. A native of Lake City, FL., he was born on Tuesday, April 20, 1943. The son of Clifford Perkins Reed and Lillie Mae (Williams) Reed, he was a 1961 graduate of Campbell Senior High School, Daytona Beach, FL. He was a retired cement finisher foreman, employed with Sun State Concrete Construction Company of Holly Hill. In 2005, "Brother Reed" became a member of the Palatka House of God Church. He was a faithful member of the Sunday School and the Men's Ministry and he truly loved his pastor. Grady enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid basketball fan and loved talking about the Lord. In addition to his parents, Grady was preceded in eternal rest by his brothers, Joseph Reid and Everett Darnell Reid; sister, Carol Currington. Those who cherish his memories: sons, Clifford (Vera) Reed, Statesboro, GA; Michael Reed, Florahome; daughters, Leaner (Terrance) Haynes, Interlachen; Stephanie (Kurt) January, Jacksonville; mother of his children, Mary Reed, Florahome; "just like a son" (nephew), Solomon Currington, Daytona Beach; brothers, Thomas Reid and Rodney Reid, both of Daytona Beach; sisters, Veronica (Mike) Rue, Jacksonville; Patricia Horton, Daytona Beach; 7 grandchildren, Clifford Jervon Reed, Statesboro, GA; Tevin January, LaRue Striglers, Jacksonville; Chereyce Reed, Florahome; Michael Reed, Jr., Johnson; Andrea Murphy and Terrance Haynes, Jr., Interlachen; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and caring friends. Visitation of family and friends will be held from 5 - 8 pm on Friday, March 22 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Homegoing Celebration will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 23 at The House of God Church, 723 N. Martin Luther King, Jr. St., Palatka, Dr. Gilbert L. Evans, Jr., J.D., Ph. D., pastor, is the eulogist. Interment will be in Abilene Cemetery, Putnam Hall. The cortege will assemble at the House of God Fellowship Hall at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
