April 5, 1958 – February 22, 2020
Gloria Dean "Punkin" Passmore Simmons, 61, native and lifelong resident of Palatka, peacefully entered the sunset of life at her residence on Saturday, February 22, 2020. The daughter of Robert Lewis Passmore, Jr. and Lugene Colson Word, she was born on Saturday, April 5, 1958. Gloria was educated in the Putnam County School District at Central Academy Class of 1977. She was a former 20-year employee in the Kraft Shipping department at Georgia-Pacific Corporation. Gloria was a member of the Palatka Church of God by Faith, where she formerly served as an Usher. She loved to go shopping and truly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Gloria was preceded in eternal rest by her maternal grandparents, Stanfield and Alma (Herring) Colson; paternal grandparents, Robert and Edna (Robinson) Passmore, Sr.; sisters, Charlene Passmore and Valerie Passmore.
She leaves to cherish her memories: sons and daughters, Robert D. (Tocarra) Perry, Sr., Michelle A. (Lee) Perry-Johnson, Alvin L. Perry, Sr., Sharonda D. (Arthur) Perry-Cooper, all of Palatka; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandson, Jayce; sisters and brothers, Patricia Colson, Barbara Colson, Ronnie (Angela) Passmore, Cheran (Terry) White, Samuel (Bertha) Passmore, Tina Passmore Roberts, Kenneth (Jamica) Passmore, Corinthians (Lushonda) Anderson-Passmore, Laverne Passmore, Robert Lewis Passmore, III, LaKeshia Passmore, Kevin Dewan Passmore, Santana Passmore, Timothy (Glo) Passmore, Cynthia Brown, Anita (John) McCullough, Emma Brown, Tiffany (Arthur) Coley, Troy Reaves, and Kimberly Hunter; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be 5-7 p.m. at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Homegoing Celebration will be 11 a.m., Saturday, February 29 at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Ave., Palatka, Reverend Karl N. Flagg, Senior Pastor. Gloria's Pastor, Superintendent Phillip Thomas, Pastor, Palatka Church of God by Faith, is the eulogist. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
