Georgia Mae Hudson, 81, of Crescent City, entered the sunset of life on Sunday, May 19, 2024 at HCA Florida North Florida Hospital, Gainesville. The daughter of Arthur and Georgia Bell (Thomas) Baber, she was born on Sunday, October 25, 1942 in Tuskegee, AL. Her family relocated and she was educated in the Volusia County School District. Georgia Mae was of the Baptist faith. She was employed as a fern cutter with Jack Smith Fernery for 20 years. Georgia Mae, affectionately known as "Sue", enjoyed fishing, playing her blues and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in eternal rest by her husband, John Hudson; sisters, Irene Williams, Rosa Jenkins, Hattie Baber, Ida Rodgers, and Viola Thomas.
To cherish her memories: devoted daughter, Bridget Gillon; caring son, Sherman Hankins; 8 grandchildren, John Wilson, Jr., Varsha King, Javel Hankins, Curtis Williams, Jennifer Johnson, Sharonda Jordan, Keishay Hankins, Shania Evans; brother, James (Janice) Baber; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be 10-11 a.m., with a Celebration of Life commencing at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, South Campus, 608 Randolph Street, Crescent City. Reverend Phillip Hobbs, Pastor of Abundant Harvest Ministries, Crescent City, is the eulogist.
