George Anthony "Georgia Boy" Maxwell, Jr., 68, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Heartland Health Care Center, Jacksonville. The son of George Anthony Maxwell, Sr. and Ethel Lee (Calhoun) Eubanks, he was born on Wednesday, October 1, 1952 in Palatka. He was educated in the Putnam County School District and a graduate of Central Academy High School. George was of the Christian faith. SFC (E-7) George Maxwell, Jr., honorably retired on November 1, 1992 from the Mechanized Calvary Branch, Automotive training division maintenance Department U.S. Army Armor School, Fort Knox, KY.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in eternal rest by his grandparents, James and Estella C. Calhoun, Sr.; siblings, Jimmie Lee Eubanks, Sr., Bobbie Jean Eubanks, Morris Jean Maxwell, Troy Pernell Eubanks.
He leaves to cherish his memories: step-mother, Annette Maxwell; daughters, Roneisha and Afton Maxwell, Murfreesboro, TN; son, Terrance Green, Miami; 10 grandchildren; sisters, Cora Hightower, Larcina Moore, Brenda Bryant, Arzita Eubanks, all of Palatka; brothers, Calvin (Rachel) Maxwell, San Mateo; Kenneth Eubanks, Palatka; aunt, Olivia Nelson, Palatka; caregivers, Iersha Johnson, Antonio Leonard, Stephanie Leonard, Alonzo Hall, Jr., Sabrina Eubanks, Brenda Bryant, Sy'Rhonda Leonard, Calvin Maxwell, Tyrone Williams; and a host of other relatives and friends, including special friends, Tyrone Williams, Barbara Arnold, Aeleah Jennings.
(Mandatory CDC guidelines for social distancing and masks required): Visitation of family and friends will be 5-7 p.m., Thursday, August 19 at Flagg's Chapel of Serenity. Celebration of George's Life will be 11 a.m., Friday, August 20 at Pentecostal Church of God in Christ, 624 North 9 th Street, Palatka, Elder Earl R. Matthews, Pastor. Reverend Karl N. Flagg, Senior Pastor, Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, officiating.
