George Herbert Greene, Sr., 80, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Sunday, February 20, 2022 at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center, Palatka. A native of Palatka, he was the son of Joseph and Hannah (Cooper) Greene, born on Sunday, December 28, 1941. He was educated in the Putnam County School System and a 1960 graduate of Central Academy High School. George was a longtime custodial employee of the Putnam County School District and Putnam Community Medical Center. George enjoyed spending time with family. He loved life and always said, "Live life to the fullest." He enjoyed watching Church TV and westerns. He was passionate about his skills to make the best tasting coffee in the whole world and he loved eating honey buns. He truly enjoyed cooking and cleaning.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in eternal rest by his wife, Emma Greene; son, George "Kojak" Green, Jr.; daughter, Pamela Denise Greene-Spegal; brother, Joseph Greene, Sr.; grandson, Jahme' Jones; niece, Andrea Greene-Perkins; great-nephew, Rodney Williams.
He leaves behind his legacy of love with: daughter, The Honorable Commissioner Tammie McCaskill-Valentine; granddaughters, Shandreka Ferguson, Jamaica Jenkins and Payton Brinson; grandsons, Dontavian (Yukeeba) Poole, Sr., Bruce (Ashley) Kirksey, Sr., Kevin Walker, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Emily, Bruce, Jr., Dontavian, Jr., Ta'vionna, and Tavian; sisters, Blanche Peacock, Tomsena Greene, Annette Greene; brother, Robert (Juanita) Greene; son-in law, Danny Spegal; brothers-in-law, Elder James Campbell, Willie James Guyton, Paul Johnson; sister-in-law, Agnes (Ronald) Peacock, Midway; nieces, Michelle (Larry) Session (caretaker / like a daughter), Barbara Rutledge, Tampa; Deana Boles, Linden, NJ; nephews, Joseph (Sharon) Greene, Jr., Port Saint Lucie; Samuel Williams, Palatka; Stephen (Mary) Williams, Baltimore, MD; grand-nieces and grand-nephews, Afi (Jason) Ruel, Ruanda Perkins, Bianca Lominy, Yannii Lovee, Stephen Williams II, Khandi Williams, LaTray (LaGarass) Oxendine, Darshell Scott; great-grand-niece, Arie Williams; special friends and family, Brenda Young, Gloria Lewis, Louise Willis, Ms. Bunchie, neighbors at Barry Manor Apartments, and the Young Family.
Visitation of family and friends will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, February 25 th ; Celebration of George's Life will be 10 a.m., Saturday, February 26 th at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Reverend Herbert L. Johnson, Jr., Pastor of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
