George Wesley Daniels, 76, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Friday, August 13, 2010 at Putnam Community Medical Center following a brief illness. A native of Olar, Bamberg County, South Carolina, he was the son of John and Leila (Ray) Daniels, Sr., born November 8, 1933. He was educated in the Bamberg County, SC School System and later moved to New York. George was a longtime employee and retired foreman at the Marlin Warehouse and a member of the Distillery Workers Union Local 1-D, in Long Island, New York. He was of the Methodist Church and was a former member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Palatka. Upon retirement, George relocated to Palatka in 1997 from Brooklyn, New York. He was a past operator at the former Salt n Sand Car Wash on SR 19 in Palatka. His hobbies included freshwater and saltwater fishing. George was preceded in eternal rest by his parents; daughter, Betty Daniels; three sisters, Mary Falco, Totsie Arias and Alfronia Atkins; two brothers, Arnel and John Edward Daniels, Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memories: daughters, Carron Tina (Michael, Sr.,) McLendon, Rockledge, FL., Laquaina , Bronx, NY; Lynette and Janette (twin daughters), Atlanta, GA; and Janet, Brooklyn, NY; sons, Ricky Cooper, East Palatka; Ivey Daniels, Bronx, NY; Terrell Daniels, Harlem, NY; sisters, Lutisha Kelly & Loretta Peacock, both of Green Cove Springs, Martha Daniels, Brooklyn, NY; sister-in-law, Ogretta Daniels, East Palatka; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives; friends and special neighbors at Cherry Tree Apartments.

Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m. Friday (today) at the Chapel of Serenity. Homegoing Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 21, at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 700 Main Street, Palatka, Pastor Deloris Demps is the eulogist. Interment will be in Pattersonville Memorial Cemetery, East Palatka.
