Gene Harold Hatcher, III, 38, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at Putnam Community Medical Center, Palatka. A native and lifelong resident of Palatka, he was the son of Gene H. Hatcher, Jr and Joyce Barkley, born on Monday, August 16, 1982. He was educated in the Putnam County School District and a Class of 2000 Palatka High School graduate. Gene was united in marriage on July 19, 2013 to the former Tereatha Dennis. He was a member of Word of God, Unity of God Church. Gene was formerly employed as a caregiver at the O'Carroll Home and teacher's assistant at E.H. Miller School. He was presently an entrepreneur and was owner/operator of Florida Boys Fishing Group. Gene hobbies included fishing, shrimping, and listening to music. He truly enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his wife, children, mother and friends. He was preceded in eternal rest by his maternal grandparents , Pearl and Leroy Barkley; sister; LaKeisha Bartley; paternal great grandmother , Catherine Smith Allen and uncle , Joe Lane Wright.
He leaves to cherish his memories: wife of 7 years, Tereatha Hatcher; children, Leauyanna, Tatianna, T'oni, Genesis, and Harmony Hatcher; devoted mother, Joyce Payton; father, Gene H. (Lula Gibbs Johnson) Hatcher, Jr.; siblings, Thomas Shorter, Reginald Shorter, Anthony Offord, II; Micah (Cynthia) Hatcher, Johnathan Hatcher, KenTrell (LaShonda) Hatcher, Lateshia Hatcher; paternal grandmother, Willie Mae Roberts; a host of aunts & uncles, including, Ola Mae Session, Cynthia Wright, Dorothy Barkley, Pauline (Daniel) Gibbs, Angela "Ann" (Robert) Williams, and Baronica (Don) Austin, and a host of other relatives and friends.
In compliance with CDC COVID-19 guidelines including required masks with social distancing, a visitation of family and friends will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, October 23 at Flagg's Chapel of Serenity and a Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, October 24 at To God Be the Glory Holiness Church, 3521 St. Johns Ave., Palatka, Pastor Linda G. Hall. Apostle Dr. M. L. Thomas, Pastor, Word of God/Unity of God Church, is the eulogist. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery, Palatka. Friends may join the family virtually via Facebook live: Flagg Serenity Memorial Chapel. Interment: Oak Hill West Cemetery.
