Gary Patrick Mims, Sr., 46, of Palatka, former resident of Crescent City, entered the sunset of life on Monday, July 25, 2016 at Putnam Community Medical Center, Palatka. The son of McArthur Mims, Sr., and Carrie Davis Mims, he was born on Sunday, September 7, 1969 in Palatka. He attended Crescent City High School and completed his education through Job Corps in Kentucky. He was formerly employed as a House Resident Manager for Arc of Putnam and also worked as a Drywall Specialist with Forrest, Inc. During his early years, he attended Friendship Baptist Church, Crescent City. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, riding motorcycles and was an avid NASCAR fan. Gary was preceded in eternal rest by his maternal grandparents, Wonderful and Wessielee Davis; paternal grandparents, Willie and Emma Mims.
He leaves to cherish his memories: devoted soulmate of 22 years, LaShawn Williams, Palatka; parents, McArthur (Carrie) Mims, Sr., Crescent City; sons, Trivauhn Bush, Crescent City; Jonathan (Seivily) Jones, Fitchburg, MA; Rodney Francis, Jalen Mims, Gary Patrick Mims, Jr., Joshua Miller, all of Palatka; daughter, EnTronyka Moore, Ocala; 5 grandchildren; brothers, McArthur Mims, Jr., Forrest City, NC; Theron Mims, Daytona Beach; Cruz Mims, Crescent City; sisters, Constance (Delton) Mims-Hawthorne, Lake Placid; Sherry Mims, Daytona Beach; sister-in-law, Teryl Mims, Welaka; special family members, Carl (Helen) Faison, Palatka; Kareem (Novice) Faison, Grandin; Victoria (Kenon) Holloman, Atlanta, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m., Friday, July 29 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Celebration of Life will be 3 p.m., Saturday, July 30, with visitation from 2-3 p.m. at True Foundation Ministries, 608 Randolph Street, Crescent City, Pastor Gwendolyn George. Reverend Michael Robinson, pastor of Friendship Baptist Church, is the eulogist.
