Gail Natlene Purifoy Green, 59, of Orange Park, entered the sunset of life on Monday, March 6, 2017 at Baptist Clay Medical Campus, Fleming Island. The daughter of L.C. Purifoy and Shirley Ann Sheffield, she was a native of Palatka, FL. She was educated in the Putnam and Clay County School Districts. She was a 1976 graduate of Orange Park High School and subsequently earned an Associate of Arts degree from St. Johns River Community (State) College. Gail was employed as a Referral Coordinator with UF Health, Jacksonville, for over 20 years until retirement. Deaconess Green was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Green Cove Springs, where she also served as an Usher and on the Pastor's Aide Ministry. Gail enjoyed planning cruises, solving crossword puzzles, and spending time with family.
In addition to her father, Gail was preceded in eternal rest by her maternal grandparents, David Sheffield and Etta Bell Sheffield.

Visitation of family and friends will be from 5-7 p.m., Friday, March 10, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 1300 Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, Green Cove Springs, Rev. Robert L. Wright, Pastor. Homegoing Celebration: 2 p.m., Saturday, March 11, at The Church at Argyle, 6823 Argyle Forest Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL., Rev. Rick Painter, Senior Pastor. Rev. Ernest Sheffield, Pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church, Daytona Beach, is the eulogist. Interment: 9:30 a.m., Monday, March 13 in the Jacksonville National Cemetery.
