Major Fredrick Gordon (USAF retired), 67, of Chelmsford, MA, began his journey home on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington, MA. A native of Welaka, Florida, he was born on Wednesday, January 31, 1945 to Samuel and Alice (McMillan) Gordon. He was a 1962 graduate of Central Academy High School, Palatka. He was united in holy matrimony to the former Mary Haley. As an enlisted U.S. Air Force Vietnam War Veteran (two tours), Major Gordon was highly decorated earning an abundance of medals, ribbons and citations including the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Outstanding Unit Award, National Defense Service Medal, and Vietnam Service Medal. Major Gordon was honorably discharge in 1993 from the Electronics Systems Center at Hanscom AFB, MA., subsequent to over three decades of military service. Upon retirement, he served as Bedford's Veterans Affairs Officer and remained dutiful until his transition into eternal rest. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars #1628; Disabled American Veterans #47; American Legion Post #221; Freemasons, and the Shriners. His father, Samuel Gordon preceded him into eternity. Fredrick is the beloved husband of Mary Haley Gordon, Chelmsford, MA; loving father of Pamela (husband, Torrance) Hambrick, Atlanta, GA., and James (wife, Joyce) Gordon, Louisville, KY; devoted son of Alice McMillan Gordon, Palatka; caring brother of Ollie Nichols, Alberta Gordon, Lillie Williams, Sam Gordon, Allen Gordon, Ronnie Gordon and Tom Gordon; grandfather of James P. Gordon, Torrance Hambrick, Jr., Jillian Gordon, and Janelle Gordon. His memories will be cherished by a host of other relatives and many special friends.
