Obituary

Freddie Lee Solomon, 71, native and lifelong resident of Middleburg, entered the sunset of life on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at St. Vincent's Medical Center - Clay, Middleburg.  The son of David Solomon and Mary Lee (Burroughs) Solomon, he was born on Thursday, June 1, 1950. He was educated in the Clay County School District and was a 1968 graduate of Orange Park High School. During his high school years, Freddie was an athlete who played football and ran track. Upon high school graduation, he attended Edward Waters College of Jacksonville. Freddie was a devoted caseworker for numerous years at Daniel Memorial Home for Disturbed Children as well as for the FL Department of Children and Family Services (formerly HRS). In 1976, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and earned an Expert M16 badge and was honorably discharged in 1979.

At an early age, Freddie was baptized and became a devoted member of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church where he sang in the male chorus and senior choirs. He enjoyed writing poetry, singing and song writing. He was a sports enthusiast and a recording artist. Freddie loved assisting the elderly and making a difference in the lives of others. He was truly a gift from God and will surely be missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in eternal rest by his sister, Juanita Rose Coleman; brother, Arthur Leon Solomon.

He leaves to cherish his memories: daughter, Kimberly Goodman, Orange Park; son, Desmond Solomon, Atlanta, GA; grandsons, Jerome Goodman, Jr., Jerone Goodman, both of Orange Park; brothers, Samuel Solomon, Michael L. (Martha) Solomon, Kenneth L. Solomon; sisters, Catherine Tuggles and Sandra Solomon; aunts, Annie Lee Keyes, Maude Jackson, Lena Lewis; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation of family and friends will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, February 5th, with Homegoing Celebration commencing at 1 p.m., at Middleburg Church of God, 4579 State Road 21, Green Cove Springs, Pastor Jamie Wyatt.  Bishop Mark A. Jones, New Life Temple Fellowship, is the eulogist and the U.S. Army will be conducting military honors. Interment will be in Forman Cemetery, Middleburg.
