Obituary

Deacon Frank McCoy, Jr., 76, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at North Florida Rehabilitation and Specialty Care in Gainesville following an extended illness. Frank Jr., was born on Tuesday, March 12, 1935 to Frank McCoy Sr., and Irene Allen McCoy in Lake City, Florida. In 1938, his family moved to Palatka and he was educated in the Putnam County School District (Central Academy High School). He was respected as a hardworking employee of Talley Box Company and subsequently Florida Furniture Industries until retirement. He was an ordained Deacon of To God Be the Glory Holiness Church. He formerly served at Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church and at Grace and Truth Deliverance Ministries. Frank loved the Lord and he was a faithful servant of God in worship until his health declined. Frank enjoyed gardening and loved doing yard work. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in eternal rest by his wife, Pearline McCoy; sister, Grace McCoy; and brother, Earl McCoy. To cherish his memories: son, Ronald McCoy, Jackson County, FL; daughter, Kimberly McClendon, Laurinburg, NC; step-son, David Jones, West Palm Beach, FL; devoted brothers, Samuel R. (Mabel H.) McCoy, Sr., Jacksonville; James (Pastor Sheila J.) McCoy, Palatka; sister-in-law, Pastor Cathy McCoy, San Mateo; brother-in-law, Arthur C. Lowe, West Palm Beach, FL; 3 aunts; 2 great aunts; a host of 1st cousins,including Erline McMillan, Palatka; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation of family and friends will be from 5-8 p.m., Friday, July 8, 2011 at the Chapel of Serenity. Homegoing Celebration will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at To God Be the Glory Holiness Church, 3521 St. Johns Avenue, Dr. Ruth Lowe-Reaves, Pastor. Elder James Campbell, Sr., Assistant Pastor, is the eulogist. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery. The cortege will assemble at 10:15 a.m. Saturday at the Chapel of Serenity.
