Mother Frances Gray Nicklow, 89, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center, Palatka. The daughter of Corry and Bertha (Baker) Gray, she was a native and lifelong resident of Palatka, born on Sunday, January 27, 1935. She was a faithful member and church mother of Pentecostal Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Supt. Johnny Shaw, Pastor. Over the years, she served in various ministries including: Usher Board, Hospitality, Choir, Youth, Missions. She was employed as a homemaker for Dr. Homer Paschall for 7 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in eternal rest by her husband, George Nicklow; daughter, Pansy Offord (John) Henderson; grandson, Marvin Brown; great grandson, Darryl Bryant, Jr.; sisters, Essie Mae (Johnny) Murray, Lillie Mae Simon, Mamie Davis, Willie Mae Postdale; stepmother, Melissa Gray; uncle, Harold Bennet; niece, Florence Sharp.
She leaves to cherish her memories: sons, Corry (Sherry) Williams, Frank (Debra) Hall; daughters, Brenda Frances (Benjamin) Palmer, Bertha (Willie) Denson, Mary Drayton Sweet, Shirley Drayton Brown, Faye (Anthony, Sr.) Royster; 25 grandchildren; 73 great grandchildren; 20 great great grandchildren; goddaughter, Lisa McRae Jones; and a host of other relatives and close friends.
Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m., Friday, February 9, at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity," 2400 Madison St., Palatka. Celebration of Life will commence at 3 p.m., Saturday, February 10, at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Avenue, Palatka. Her nephew, Rev. James E. Vickers, is the eulogist. Interment: Oak Hill West Cemetery.
