Evelyn Evans Davis, 90, of Grandin, entered the sunset of life on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at her residence.
Evelyn Davis was born on Wednesday, December 4, 1935 in Palatka, FL to Roosevelt and Agnes (Alexander) Evans.
Evelyn attended Central Academy High School and later relocated to New York. While in New York, Evelyn worked in cafeteria services for the Board of Education. After several years, Evelyn returned to Florida and became a Foster Grandparent with the Putnam County Communities in Schools program.
As a committed Christian, Evelyn was faithful in her service to God’s Kingdom. Her New York church affiliations include Greater Bibleway Temple in Brooklyn, NY and Mt. Zion. In most recent years, Evelyn served at Abilene Baptist Church as a deaconess and a faithful choir member.
Evelyn was preceded in eternal rest by brothers, Roosevelt Evans, Daniel Evans, Herbert Evans; sister, Mary Lee Miller; cousin, Ruby Evans; son-in-law, Kevin Knight, Sr.
Cherished memories of Evelyn will remain with those who will continue her legacy: devoted husband of 73 years, Eugene; sons and daughters, Sheila Davis, Jacqueline Claudio (Michael) Walden, Michael Walden, Horace Eugene (Leah) Davis, Jr., Bridget Knight; brothers, Pastor Ceasar Alexander and Joseph Alexander; sister, Cecelia (Rev. Harold) Goldston; grandchildren, Edwin (Jennifer) Claudio, Eugene (Kasey) Claudio, Chimere Davis, Horace Eugene (Shannon Russell) Davis, III, Chardonnay (Andre) Cook, Kevin W. Knight, Jr., Tyler Knight; great grandchildren, Khai Claudio, Keara Claudio, Aleeya Hogans, Aviana Davis and Andre Cook, III; sisters-in-law, Linda (Bishop Austin) Lancaster, Jannie Armstrong and Shirley Davis; brother-in-law, Alfred Davis, Sr.; nieces, Bertha Davis, Asteria Kennedy, Patricia Barrett and Janette Davis; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, February 27, at Flagg’s Chapel of Serenity. A Celebration of Life will commence at 12 noon, Saturday, February 28, at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Ave, Palatka, Rev. Karl N. Flagg, Senior Pastor. Bishop Edward Davis, Harvest Temple Ministries, Palatka, Pastor, is the eulogist. Interment will follow: Abilene Cemetery, 187 Putnam Loop Road, Putnam Hall, FL.
