Eva Pearl Walker, 73, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Friday, September 13, 2024 at HCA Florida North Florida Hospital, Gainesville. The daughter of Jessie Drains and Doree Simmons, she was born on Wednesday, March 28, 1951 in Albany, GA. She was educated in the Volusia County FL School System and attended Campbell Junior High School. Eva was employed as a line cook and baker for Bethune-Cookman University, Daytona Beach for seven years. She was affiliated with Tree of Life Evangelical Pentecostal Church for several years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in eternal rest by her son, Derrick Holmes; sister, Dorothy McAfee.
She leaves to cherish her memories: husband, Robert Walker, Palatka; sons, Stanley Drains, Palatka; Wayne Wiley, Daytona Beach; Jason Holmes, Palm Coast; daughters, Stephanie Wiley, Palatka; Ramona Holmes, Daytona Beach; brother, Sha'Reff A. Rashad, Jacksonville; sisters, Betty Bennett, Juliett Williams, both of Jacksonville; Olivia Sims, Daytona Beach; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, September 27 and Celebration of Life will be 2 p.m., Saturday, September 28 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Eva's brother, Rev. Sha'Reff A. Rashad, Pastor, New Mt. Moriah A.M.E. Church, Jacksonville, is the eulogist. Interment will follow in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
