Eva Lee Matlock was born on Monday, July 7, 1947, to Albert Williams and Noille Gordon in Screven, GA. She was educated in the Screven County (Georgia) School District in her early years and later in the Monroe County (Florida) School District. For many years, Eva worked as a cashier in retail stores including Pantry Pride and K-Mart. She enjoyed listening to gospel music, watching westerns and the Andy Griffith Show. As an active member of Greater Shiloh Baptist Church, Eva regularly attended Sunday School.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in eternal rest by her husband, Melvin Eugene Matlock.

Eva entered the sunset of life on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Palatka Center for Healing & Rehabilitation.

She leaves to cherish her memories, daughter, Marion (Earnest, Jr.) Purifoy; son, Demetrius Matlock; grandchildren, Xavier A. Matlock, Kashia S. Purifoy, Kimora E. Matlock; great grandchildren, Zayaire Purifoy-Brooks, Za'Kiyah Matlock, Zion Matlock, A'meraria Matlock; sister, Bernice Burgest; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Greater Shiloh Baptist Church, Palatka. Reverend Anthony Q. Robinson, Sr., Pastor, is the eulogist.
