Mother Eva Mae Keeley, was born on Monday, March 10, 1941, in Adel, Georgia. The daughter of Jefferson and Leola (Seymore) Lane, Sr., she was educated in the Cook County GA., School District. On January 24, 1958 she was united in marriage to Willie Elmer Keeley, Sr. She worked diligently to provide for her family as a farm laborer and homemaker. She resided in Palatka for over 55 years moving from Adel. She was a faithful member and church mother of St. Joseph Primitive Baptist Church. "Mother Keeley" served the Lord with gladness and was very involved in the community. Her hobbies included singing, cooking, and sewing. Mother's favorite saying originated from the lyrics of the hymn, "Father, I Stretch My Hands to Thee." In addition to her parents and husband, those preceding her in eternal rest include: paternal grandparents, Samuel (Francis) Lane; maternal grandparents, Jim (Sylvia) Seymore; siblings, Margaret Sampson, Francis Pettigrew and Naomi Inman; grandson, Oliver Keeley, Jr. Mother Keeley answered the eternal call and peacefully entered the sunset of life at 2 o'clock a.m., on Monday, May 26, 2014 at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center, Palatka. Those who treasure her memories: daughters, Catherine Brooks, Memria (Elder Abie) Williams and Sabrina Eubanks, all of Palatka; sons, Willie Keeley, Jr. Palatka; Oliver Keeley, Sr., Grenada, MS; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; siblings, Lucinda Rich, St. Petersburg; Doris Keeley, Daytona Beach; Carolyn (Billy) Kenny, Patricia (Earnest) McCallister, Jefferson (Daisy) Lane, Jr., and James Lane, all of Adel, GA; Leola (Hal) Whitaker, Safety Harbor; Willie (Betty) Lane, Sparks, GA; Delores (Robert) Hunter, Philadelphia, PA; Samuel Lane, Newark, NJ; like a son, Deacon Willie Joe (Gashia) King, like grandsons, Nikki McRae and Tyler Long; numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and a host of other caring relatives and friends. Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2014 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Homegoing Celebration will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Avenue, Palatka, Reverend Karl N. Flagg, Pastor. Elder Lemon J. Nixon, pastor of St. Joseph Primitive Baptist Church, is the Eulogist. Moderator J.C. Tookes, North Central Florida District Primitive Baptist Association, officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
