Eva Mae Hill, 61, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Friday, May 8, 2010 at her residence following a brief illness. The daughter of Harold and Florine (Collier) Hill, she was a native and lifelong resident of Palatka, born Tuesday, March 29, 1949. She was a graduate of Central Academy High School, class of 67. She was a migrant worker and was a certified childcare assistant. Eva Mae hobbies included working crossword puzzles, crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed simply sitting on her front porch, entertaining her neighbors and friends.
In addition to her parents, Eva Mae was preceded in eternal rest by two sisters, Imogene Robinson and Dorothy Ann Hill; two brothers, James L. Hill and Kenneth Hill.
She leaves to cherish her legacy of love: sons, Timmie Session and Travis (Tondra) Hill, both of Palatka; Steven (Chernetta M.) Hill; Fayetteville, NC; daughters, Varonda Hill Chandler, East Palatka; Shunthenia (Delmonize) Smith, Rochester, NY; brother, Jerome (Terri) Hill, Jacksonville; sisters, Roberta (Deacon Charlie) Francis, Harriet Hill, and Florine Hill Pope, all of Palatka; Yvonne Hill (Johnnie) Jackson, Jacksonville; 15 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and caring friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m. Friday (Today) May 14, at The Chapel of Serenity.
Homegoing Celebration will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 15 at Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 1000 N. 19th Street, Palatka, Rev. Anthony Q. Robinson Sr., Pastor. Elder Alonzo Mulberry, pastor of Soul Mission Church of God in Christ is the eulogist.
The cortege will assemble 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Hills family residence, 2301 Olive St., Apt. C-139, Palatka.
Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
