Obituary

Eugene "Broda" Miller, Jr., 71, of Ocala, peacefully entered the sunset of life, with his loving wife Tina by his side, his daughters, Shenae and Telesha were not allowed to be by his side but were there at the hospital in the parking lot praying on the phone with his youngest daughter Stephanie during their father's transition on Tuesday, April 21, 2020 at AdventHealth, Ocala.

He was the eldest of six children born to the union of Eugene, Sr. and Queen Ollie (Bivens) Miller, born on Sunday, February 13, 1949. Eugene was a 1967 graduate of Central Academy High School and subsequently attended St. Johns River Junior College (pre-engineering program). In 1970, Eugene enlisted in the U.S. Army, earning numerous commendations as a Military Police, Detective, National Defense Service Medal Marksman (Rifle), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea), and Expert Grenade, etc.

Eugene was raised in a Christian home where he learned to sing, study the Word of God and pray. As a youth he was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church where he was baptized at an early age and he served wherever there was a need in multiple ministries within the church and was ultimately ordained as a Deacon. His distinguished career included serving as a Palatka Police Officer and as a Public works engineer, following 19 years of service. He worked for Miller's Electric and contracted with several other electric companies from Florida to Philadelphia, PA.

In 1972, Eugene married the former Lezona Wiggins (for 32 years) and they became the proud parents of four children. Eugene loved to travel, entertain and most of all enjoyed his family. In July 2003, Eugene married the former Tina L. Black (nearly 17 years) and he became a caring stepfather to Tina's three daughters.
One of the last things that Eugene did before he could no longer speak was to pray a prayer of covering over his children. He called to speak to each of his brothers and sisters to tell them to take care of each other and their children and he called them each by name. While visiting with his nieces and nephew were there Marcus, Teral, Moriah and Theresia and he spoke blessings over them and sang worship songs. His grandson Stephon offered a prayer for him which has had a lasting effect on the entire family.

He leaves to cherish his memories: devoted wife, Tina Miller; son, Timothy (Lareka) Miller, Telesha Miller Singleton, Shanea (Tyone) Miller Williams, Stephanie (Brian) Miller Nelson; stepdaughters, Adrienna Yon, Monique Dasher, Sentonio Yon; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Larry D. Miller (transitioned on Wednesday, April 29, 2020); Ophelia Maxine (Apostle Willie, Jr.) Miller Ogburn, Cassandra (Minister St. Clair) Miller Kennedy, Brenda (Apostle Willie) Miller Chambliss, Leonardo D. (Karen) Miller; aunt, Ruthie Mae Miller; and a host of other relatives and friends, including special cousins, Vaughn Edward Moody, Lenora Cannon Taylor.

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic and the Governor's executive stay-at-home order, the Miller family has planned a limited, socially-distanced visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m., on Saturday, May 2 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." A Memorial Service will be schedule at a later date. Miller family condolences: www.flaggserenitychapel.com. Professional arrangements entrusted to Karl N. Flagg Serenity Memorial Chapel.
